Water is a precious resource and there is a high demand for quality water, 97.5% of water on earth is salt water, leaving only 2.5% as freshwater, a large majority of this is contained in the ice caps in Antarctica and Greenland. Water shortages are inevitable with a growing population, lifestyle choices and the impact of climate change, therefore urgent action is needed.
Water is used for everything in our daily lives, heating our homes & offices, preparing food, clean our clothes, watering gardens / landscapes and is essential for thousands of industrial processes. Non-renewable energy production uses vast amounts of water.
At Antac we believe in doing our part to preserve such a precious resource, especially as it is an essential element in our business, crucially for our window cleaning services. Moving forward, we need to take responsibility for our supplies and invest in the future to help save water and reduce our impact on valuable resources, as no doubt there will be challenging times ahead with droughts brought about due to climate change.
As part of our Water Awareness and our Corporate Social Responsibility, Antac have started our journey with the amazing Toilet & Tap Twinning Organisation, by giving to a district in Uganda. In donating to twin a toilet or tap it helps fund a project in a poor community that will enable families to build a basic toilet, have access to clean water and learn about hygiene.
The organisation supports projects in 25 countries where poverty is extreme. They work with communities that are marginalised, and usually extremely remote, and where governments fail to provide adequate water and sanitation.
The three main aspects to their work are:
- War-torn countries
- Countries hit by natural disaster
- Long term development programmes
