Antac were approached by Andy Fairclough, Amey Defence Services to help with a volunteer day. The project brief ‘a retired RAF Veteran (Andy H) was in need of help as he was not able to cope with the overgrowth and brambles in his back garden meaning he was trapped in his house’. Antac attended a couple of site visits and met with Andy in order to fully understand his requirements along with a wish list. It was clear from the start that it would be significantly more than the day’s work that was initially proposed.
Amey and Tivoli undertook the first phase of the work and removed all overgrowth and waste to leave the site accessible. Antac mobilised with a large team to lay a patio, provide new outside water point for hose and sprinkler, two raised flower beds, a security light, and a new lean- to shelter with power point for mobility scooter. The finished lawn was laid with turf and new garden furniture purchased comprising of table, chair and settee.
John Riley, Regional Director having seen the photos of the completed garden emailed ‘Please pass my personal thanks onto everybody involved – above and beyond – when I heard we were going to tidy his garden – I had not dreamt of this level of transformation’
Andy Fairclough ‘Thank you all, a wonderful achievement you should all be very proud’.
