York suffered its worst flooding in a generation immediately after Christmas 2015. Antac were called upon by GEOAmey to provide a significant £100K refurbishment within the city to its Magistrate’s Court, a distinguished heritage building, resultant from the devastating floods. Areas affected were the custody suites, offices, kitchens, court cells and basement storage areas which required a full strip out, deep clean, disinfection and refurbishment. All court cells were decorated with anti-graffiti paint and the enquiries office was converted to an open plan meeting area furnished with a flood proof, vinyl floor.
During this period, a full review of both Health & Safety and Fire Risk Assessments of the building were conducted before opening in April with new Fire Doors installed. The timescales were extremely tight with completion in 2 months considerate to their requirements to re-open to the public and conduct court hearings. GEOAmey commented “the significant amount of work undertaken particularly within the cell area is testimony to the management and workforce of Antac.” This has resulted in an ever increasing profile for Antac within Yorkshire.
